Why Dorothy Mae?

 

 

Art has always been a huge part of my life. It lets me express myself, it puts my world in perspective and it gives me time to breathe. I originally wanted to start this business for the same reason we all do....money. Yes, the world and my life require some amount of money to survive.

 

I'm currently a stay at home mom. Which doesn't pay unfortunately. Unless you consider sloppy kisses and peanut butter hands currency. So in comes the question "why not just go out and get a real job?" (As if it's not full time... but lets stay on track here.) Why am I choosing NOT to refold jeans at the "it store" full of tweenies smelling of hideous perfume? Or driving hours daily in traffic to get to a job pushing papers at some fancy building downtown? All for a paycheck that tells me what I'm worth.

 

Why am I attempting to make something out of nothing and to stay home with my sweet boy?

I could go on for days talking about her so i'll try to keep it short. She was a strong willed woman with an unforgettable laugh. The kind of grandmother who wasn't afraid to bust a move in the middle of the bra department of "Wally World". (It was my first bra, I was mortified.) The kind of grandmother who teaches you to swim, pick fresh blackberries, reminds you to always be yourself, cook rice krispies often and never let you question how much you were loved. Every memory with her in it is priceless. Her love has forever changed my life and she is missed every single day.
